Enrollment at SELC is completed through the following required steps:
Sign up for Brightwheel and complete all enrollment forms.
Submit your child’s immunization record and completed medical form.
Complete and sign the contractual agreement and handbook acknowledgment.
Schedule an entry conference with the director before your child’s first day.
Pay the non‑refundable registration fee.
If your child is in their pre‑kindergarten year, register for Universal Preschool (UPK) funding through the Colorado.gov website.
Enrollment priority at SELC is given first to children of SELC staff, followed by returning students, then children of Sargent School District staff, and then siblings of currently enrolled children. All other families are enrolled on a first‑come, first‑served basis as space allows. If a classroom is full, families may choose to be placed on our waitlist and will be notified when an opening becomes available. SELC is an equal opportunity provider. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, disability, age, or any other status protected by law.

SELC closely follows the Sargent School District calendar. The center is closed for all district‑scheduled breaks and holidays, including Labor Day, Thanksgiving Break, Christmas Break, Spring Break, and any additional closures designated by Sargent School.
We will also close for unforeseen emergencies, such as snow days, power outages, or other situations in which Sargent School announces a closure. Families will receive notifications of all closures through Brightwheel.
Please refer to the SELC calendar for the full schedule of our school year.
SELC does not require daily attendance. (Families using CCAP must follow CCAP attendance requirements to maintain eligibility.) While attendance is flexible, regular attendance helps children settle into routines, build relationships, and fully participate in classroom learning. We also understand that families may need to keep their child home for appointments, family needs, or simply to enjoy extra time together. You are always welcome to make the choices that work best for your child and your family. If your child will be absent, please notify SELC through Brightwheel as soon as possible. This helps teachers plan for the day and maintain accurate records.
Children must be signed in and out each day through Brightwheel. Parents and guardians must escort their child to the classroom at drop‑off and ensure a staff member is aware they have arrived. Children may not enter the building or walk to their classroom alone.
At pick‑up, parents must make a staff member aware that their child is leaving before signing out. Only adults listed on the child’s approved pick‑up list may take the child from the program, and identification may be required. Written permission may be given by the parent to SELC for one-time pick-ups by other adults. No child will be released to anyone under the age of 18, including older siblings. It is assumed that parents may pick up their child at any time. If there is an exception, such as custody restrictions, official documentation must be provided to prevent an estranged parent from picking up the child.
Schedule Changes
Written notice, submitted one week in advance, is required for any change to a child’s contracted schedule. Schedule changes are approved based on space availability and may require updated paperwork. A $25 contract‑change fee applies to all approved schedule changes.
Substitution of Days
For fee purposes, SELC does not allow substitution of one contracted day for another. Families will be charged for both the original contracted day(s) and any additional day(s) attended.
Withdrawal
If changes in schedule or personal circumstances require withdrawal, families may end their contractual agreement at any time. Written notice of intent to withdraw must be submitted two weeks prior to the child’s last day. The contractual agreement remains in effect until written notification is received. When a child withdraws, they may not re‑enter the program until their name reaches the top of the waiting list.
SELC uses a yearly flat‑rate tuition model, divided into monthly payments. Tuition is billed on the first day of each month for that month’s enrollment. Daycare (before- and after-school care) and any overtime charges are billed during the first week of the following month. All invoices—tuition, daycare, and overtime—are due within 14 days of the billing date.
A $50 non‑refundable registration fee is due with each contractual agreement. Tuition is calculated on an annual basis. Families may choose a monthly payment plan or pay in full for a 10% discount. Please speak with the director about any available discounts or government programs, including UPK. Please note that all pre-Kindergarten students must enroll in UPK.
Each family signs a contractual agreement for a stated schedule. Children may attend only during their contracted hours, unless additional time is pre‑approved. Prearranged additional time is billed at $7.00 per hour and must be approved at least 24 hours in advance. Attendance outside contracted time without prior approval is billed as overtime.
Any time outside a child’s contracted schedule is considered overtime and billed at $20.00 per occurrence. A $20 late pick‑up fee is charged for any child not picked up by 4:15 p.m. If a child remains at the center one hour past closing and parents cannot be reached, Child Protective Services or law enforcement will be contacted. A $25 late or non‑payment fee is applied to any account that becomes more than one month past due. If an account reaches 60 days past due, or if no payment plan has been arranged with the director, the account may be sent to collections and the child may be withdrawn from the program. Invoices are sent through Brightwheel. Please ensure your payment method is current and that all invoices are paid on time to maintain enrollment.
SELC understands that preschool tuition can be a financial strain for families. We are committed to supporting eligible families through income‑based scholarships and tuition assistance, as funding allows. Scholarship availability depends on current grant funding and may vary from year to year.
Scholarship Application Process
Submit documentation of financial need (pay stubs, tax return, or employer/physician note) and a CCCAP denial letter.
Turn in the completed application to the director.
The director reviews applications in the order received and notifies families within 30 days; final scholarship decisions are made by the SELC Board.
Approved families receive a scholarship agreement and may accept or decline the award.
Families who experience job loss or significant financial hardship during the school year may request tuition assistance at any time.
Only families enrolled at SELC for 90 days or more are eligible to apply.
Incomplete applications will not be considered.
In hardship situations, the director may determine whether a CCCAP denial letter is required.
Scholarship funds are limited and awarded on a first‑come, first‑served basis to eligible families.
Not all applicants will receive assistance.
Decisions are based on the order applications are received and family income eligibility.
Tuition assistance is not guaranteed from year to year.
